Raven on the barrel

41 x 86 x 27 cm

October 27th. 2014

She is staring down into the well of sorrow remembering her faith, a flight ended in a barrel filled with drowned bees. Rainwater long evaporated, leaving a thick crust of blackened bees.
Surrounding beehives collapsed as wax moths draped their Halloween webbing into these castles. Larva tunneled through, strips of cocoons lined the hive and only the moths flew out.

Magnificent one,  wrapped in my apron, I carried you home.
A big fire blazed through the Magical Canyon and beyond, on March 14th. 2014. Gone is the ravens roost. Beware of moths, be wary of a telephone service truck driving into the fields.
